October has been one of the most jam-packed months in the history of InFlux Technologies, filled with updates that will take our network and ecosystem to the next level, so let’s dive in!
Flux Fork
During October, InFlux Technologies underwent one of the most significant changes in our history: we successfully implemented a soft fork that transitioned the network from GPU mining to Proof of Useful Work v2 (PouW v2).
Previously, the Flux network was secured through GPU mining, in which miners pooled their computing power to unlock new blocks. This resulted in wasted compute, inefficient energy consumption, and inconsistent miner reward payouts.
With PoUW v2, FluxNode operators now handle all block production and transaction validation to secure the network. The fork cut block times from 2 minutes to 30 seconds, enabling much more frequent payout cycles for node operators, as 14 FLUX will now be distributed between each FluxNode tier for every block produced.
Additionally, the fork introduced a new maximum supply cap of 560 million FLUX, with a 10% annual reduction rate, to support long-term ecosystem growth and measured scalability.
Refactored Website and New FluxCloud UI
We refactored the main runonflux.com website this month to optimize performance and modernize our WordPress backend.
Additionally, we wanted to give developers a faster path to deployment when using FluxCloud. To accomplish this, we released a brand-new FluxCloud UI in October. Our amazing dev team combined home.runondlux.com and cloud.runonflux.com to deliver a clean, unified interface from which users can deploy customizable apps frictionlessly.
New CDN
This month, we released a new Content Delivery Network (CDN) for FluxCloud, enhancing edge functionality and hosting flexibility. This new CDN automatically routes user queries to servers closest to their physical location, reducing latency and improving data throughput for deployments.
This CDN now allows users to host container registries with virtually any setup, not just Docker Hub. The FluxCloud CDN enables managed hosting (where a cloud provider manages the underlying infrastructure), abstracted hosting (automated orchestration with no infrastructure management required), and on-premise hosting (where infrastructure is individually managed) for highly flexible container management.
New Node Management System
October has been packed! Next, we aimed to simplify node management for operators, particularly since post-fork, they are primarily responsible for core network operations.
We introduced a unified platform that allows operators to view the performance specifications and statuses of all the nodes they own or manage. This new node management system has a variety of robust features that include:
- Custom notification settings
- Daily reports on node activity and uptime
- Time-zone specific notification scheduling
- Public key delegation for remote restarts in case an operator is offline and their node goes down
- Delegate key imports for wallet-less sign-ins
- Support for SSP and Zelcore
Flux Deployment Academy
To further streamline app launches on FluxCloud, we unveiled the Flux Deployment Academy—an educational hub for users packed with resources outlining the deployment prerequisites for our decentralized cloud. The academy features in-depth tutorials and cost breakdowns for app deployment.
New Flux Block Explorer
We are finalizing a completely revamped Flux block explorer, redesigned for greater intuitiveness, that will be paired with a custom indexer for internally generated API calls, removing the need for any third-party indexing software.
Flux Foundation
In October, we announced the formation of the Flux Foundation to drive long-term, sustainable network growth. A community-governed initiative, the Foundation will receive a fixed allocation of 0.5 FLUX per block, resulting in a consistent funding stream with payouts every 30 seconds.
This approach relies on yield-generating infrastructure to fund growth, rather than relying on liquidity. The block rewards allocated to the Foundation will be locked as collateral to fund community, marketing, and operational grants, with a portion set aside for a strategic reserve.
Collaborations and Partnerships
Kaspa Nodes on FluxCloud
In October, we collaborated with the Kaspa network to launch public Kaspa nodes on FluxCloud, which are now live! Visit the Flux Marketplace to deploy one in just a few clicks with no technical expertise required. Plans start at $27.20 USD/month for a three-server Kaspa node bundle; check out our Kaspa nodes on the FluxCloud deployment guide for more information.
When deploying a Kaspa node, send FLUX from a self-custody wallet, such as Zelcore or SSP, rather than an exchange. Exchange transfers can miss the 30-minute payment window, and many exchanges don’t support payment memos, which could prevent orders from being credited.
Flux & Hivello
Flux partnered with Hivello, a DePIN network aggregator, this month to accelerate the adoption of decentralized infrastructure. By working together to reduce fragmentation between networks and make DePIN more accessible, this partnership demonstrates a commitment to simplifying the Web3 user experience.
Flux & ChangeHero
We partnered with the cryptocurrency exchange, ChangeHero, to launch the PUMPkin Protocol. This promotion allows users to win $500 in FLUX by decoding the curse—finding a hidden link to a Telegram bot and keywords in Halloween-themed images!
Flux & Uquid
Flux also collaborated with Uquid—a Web3 vendor and shopping infrastructure provider—for an educational AMA space on how DePIN is reshaping e-commerce, and what decentralized computing means for the online customer journey.
Zelcore Update
Zelcore released update v8.22.0, which equips the wallet with a new security notification system that enables users to opt into alerts for all account activity. This update adds login activity tracking, providing a detailed history of all login attempts contextualized with timestamps and location data.
Additionally, update v8.22.0 allows users to authorize trusted sign-in devices, integrates FluxDrive file encryption, and brings backend upgrades for enhanced support on EVM-compatible chains, such as Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism.
Conclusion
October has been one of the biggest months we’ve had in a long time! The majority of updates center around ecosystem development, and there have been significant changes. The fork introduced a new node-centric consensus with PoUW v2, resulting in shorter block times, more frequent payout cycles for node operators, and a new FLUX token supply.
This fork, along with a new FluxCloud UI, block explorer, node management system, deployment academy, ecosystem growth fund, and database integrations, marks a comprehensive overhaul of the Flux network, now even better positioned to lead the DePIN wave.
New partnerships and collaborations with established players, such as Kaspa and Hivello, ensure continued support for users across the Web3 ecosystem. Lastly, a fresh Zelcore update introduces more advanced security features for the wallet.
So, with all of that, October (which is supposed to be spooky) has been nothing but productive, and with one of our busiest months ever finally coming to a close, we have even more coming on the way! The future runs on Flux.
