What Keen Games has confirmed
- Enshrouded 1.0 releases on October 15, 2026, on Steam and PlayStation 5.
- The Xbox Series X|S version follows in spring 2027.
- The Steam price went up to €39.99 (or the regional equivalent) on September 8, 2026. Anyone who already owns the game keeps it.
- Keen Games has said 1.0 focuses on performance, including on lower and mid-range PCs, alongside quality of life changes and a reworked dragon fight. The full list arrives with the release changelog in October.
What has not been announced yet
As of late September 2026, Keen Games has not said whether Early Access worlds carry over to 1.0, whether the dedicated server needs more hardware, whether PS5 and PC players can play together, or whether the 16 player co-op limit changes. Plan for the cautious answer on each of these until the changelog says otherwise. We will update this page when it does.
Updating your server on launch day
Enshrouded refuses connections between mismatched versions. On October 15 Steam updates every player to 1.0 automatically, and a dedicated server does not update itself while it is running. A server that was fine the night before will turn everyone away until it is updated, and nothing in its configuration will look wrong.
| Where the server runs | How it gets to 1.0 |
|---|---|
| Self-hosted with SteamCMD | Stop the server, run app_update 2278520 validate in SteamCMD, then start it again. |
| On Flux | Restart it from the dashboard. The server downloads the current Enshrouded build from Steam every time it starts, so the restart is the update. |
Wait until the release is live on Steam before restarting, or the server will download the same Early Access build it already has. The first start on a new build takes longer than usual: the download comes first, then the world loads. Give it a few minutes before anyone tries to join.
Back up your world before the update
A big update can change how an existing save loads. Update 8 converted existing equipment into upgradable items, and a hotfix afterwards had to recover items that were lost in the conversion. Keen has not said yet how 1.0 treats Early Access worlds. A copy of the world taken before the update costs nothing and is the only thing that lets you go back.
The world lives in the server's savegame folder. Each world is a file with an eight character hexadecimal name, 3ad85aea for the first one, plus a companion file with the same name and _info on the end. On Flux, take a backup from the Backup tab in your dashboard, and download the savegame folder from the file browser if you also want a copy on your own PC (downloads open once a server is past its free trial). Self-hosters can copy the same folder from the server directory.
Moving a co-op world to a dedicated server
Plenty of groups played Early Access in a world one person hosted, which only exists while that person is online. Launch is a good moment to put it on a dedicated server so the group can play on its own schedule. Enshrouded keeps local saves in one of two places on Windows:
| Setup | Local save folder |
|---|---|
| Steam Cloud on (the default) | Steam\userdata\<your Steam ID>\1203620\remote |
| Steam Cloud off | C:\Users\<you>\Saved Games\Enshrouded |
- Find your world in that folder. Sorting by date modified helps: it is the hexadecimal file you played last, together with its _info file.
- If the file is not called 3ad85aea, rename both files so they are 3ad85aea and 3ad85aea_info. That is the name a dedicated server loads by default.
- Stop the server. A running server can overwrite files you upload with its next autosave.
- Back up the server's current savegame folder, then remove the old 3ad85aea files from it so the server has only your world to load.
- Upload both files into the savegame folder. On Flux this is the file browser in the dashboard.
- Start the server and join. Your world, your builds and your chests are where you left them.
You can move the world before launch day and play it on the Early Access build until then, then back it up and restart the server into 1.0 on October 15.
PS5, Xbox and crossplay
The PS5 release is the first time Enshrouded is on a console, and it brings a lot of new players. Keen Games has not announced crossplay between PC and PS5, and has not said whether PS5 players will be able to join dedicated servers. Until it does, plan a dedicated server for PC players on Steam, including the Steam Deck. If your group is split across PC and PS5, wait for the changelog before paying for a server on their behalf.
Hardware for 1.0
Keen Games has not published new dedicated server requirements for 1.0, so the Early Access figures still apply: about 4 GB of RAM for a small group, 6 GB for 8 players and 8 GB for a full 16 player world. Those are the floor, not the target. The server uses around 4.4 GB before anyone joins, and a large, heavily built world always uses more memory than a fresh one, so for 1.0 our plans sit above them: 5 GB for up to 4 players, 8 GB for up to 8 and 12 GB for a full 16. The server requirements page has the full breakdown.
Launch day checklist
- Before October 15, back up your world from the dashboard, and download a copy of the savegame folder if you can.
- If your group played in a hosted co-op world, move it onto the dedicated server now.
- On October 15, wait for 1.0 to appear on Steam, then restart the server.
- Give the first start a few minutes to download the build and load the world.
- Join and check your bases and inventory before telling the rest of the group it is up.
If you do not have a server yet, one deployed now runs the Early Access build today and moves to 1.0 with a single restart on launch day.
Frequently asked questions
When does Enshrouded 1.0 come out?
October 15, 2026, on Steam and PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series X|S version follows in spring 2027.
Will my Enshrouded server update to 1.0 by itself?
Not while it is running. A dedicated server has to be updated and restarted, and until it is, players who have already updated to 1.0 cannot join. On Flux the server downloads the current build from Steam every time it starts, so restarting it from the dashboard after the release is the update.
Will my Early Access world work in Enshrouded 1.0?
Keen Games has not said yet. Back up the savegame folder before your server restarts into 1.0, so you have the world as it was whatever the changelog says.
Can PS5 players join an Enshrouded dedicated server?
Keen Games has not announced crossplay between PC and PS5, or said whether PS5 players can join dedicated servers. For now, plan a dedicated server for PC players on Steam.
How do I move my co-op world to a dedicated server?
Copy the world file and its _info file from your local save folder, rename them to 3ad85aea and 3ad85aea_info if they have another name, stop the server, upload both into its savegame folder and start it again.
Does an Enshrouded 1.0 server need more RAM?
No new requirements have been published. The Early Access guidance still applies: about 4 GB for a small group, 6 GB for 8 players and 8 GB for 16. Those are minimums for a fresh world, so our 1.0 plans leave room for a built-up one: 5 GB for up to 4 players, 8 GB for 8 and 12 GB for 16.
