InFlux Technologies Partners with Timpi to Decentralize Internet Indexing
Hello Fluxers! We are excited to announce our partnership with Timpi—a DePIN operating a global node infrastructure that powers decentralized internet indexing for more open information access and efficient data availability.
The Problem
Search engines utilize domain indexes—massive databases of categorized website content—to connect users to information relevant to their search queries. Automated bots, called crawlers, build these indexes. Crawlers scan URLs, copying and storing webpage metadata to organize it by topic, source, and relevance. When a user inputs a search query, the search engine doesn’t analyze the internet in real time but retrieves what it deems to be the most relevant results from its internal index.
However, very few search engines possess a comprehensive internet index, and the ones that do, such as Google or Bing, keep it centralized, restricting access with constrained search rate limits and ranking systems that filter out relevant results in favor of sponsored content.
Timpi’s Solution
Timpi offers the world’s first decentralized internet index—a database with billions of webpages, accessible by anyone, anywhere, at any time. To achieve this, Timpi operates a global network of user-powered nodes—of which there are four kinds—to facilitate the collection, categorization, storage, and access of datapoints within the index.
The first node type in Timpi’s network is Collector Nodes, which act as decentralized web crawlers that scan millions of webpages daily. The second type is Guardian Nodes, which are distributed storage centers that house the indexed webpage metadata. The third type of Timpi node is Synaptron Nodes, which assist in structuring the index by leveraging AI to process images and translate data.
Lastly, the fourth node type is GeoCore Nodes, which detect language patterns, manage Collectors, and pre-process tasks, like tagging and filtering, prior to webpage data being added to the index. This increases the index refresh rate, meaning that user search queries are answered more quickly.
How does it all fit together? Collectors scrape relevant web data, which is pre-processed and categorized by GeoCore Nodes. Synaptron Nodes then process any scraped image data and assist in structuring the index. Once indexed, all of the data is stored within Guardian Nodes, accessible to users through the Timpi Search Engine or an API plugin.
The Partnership
The partnership between InFlux Technologies and Timpi involves further bringing Collector and Synaptron Nodes onto the Flux Marketplace to enhance the Timpi network with additional computing power. Additionally, this summer, we will see the introduction of an API enabling access to the Timpi decentralized internet index.
Timpi is a transparent project with a fully doxed team. InFlux Technologies completely believes in what Timpi is accomplishing, and we look forward to continuing to support and drive decentralization across the web. Stay tuned for more updates!
