SSP Integrates Support for WalletConnect
SSP is constantly innovating, whether increasing security through Schnorr signatures on Ethereum or allowing users to invest in new assets with an expansive token list; there is no shortage of development.
With that in mind, we are pleased to announce that SSP now supports WalletConnect integrations! To ensure continued ease of use for new entrants in the crypto space, WalletConnect facilitates seamless communication between wallets and decentralized applications (dApps). Furthermore, thanks to the multisig nature of SSP, connecting to dApps via WalletConnect has never been more secure!
What is WalletConnect?
WalletConnect is an open-source protocol that securely connects dApps to crypto wallets through QR codes or deep links, depending on whether you’re using a wallet app on desktop or mobile. First released in 2018, WalletConnect v1 implemented basic QR code connections, and v2, released in 2022, significantly improved upon this. WalletConnect v2 introduced expanded network support, enabling a wallet to connect to multiple blockchains simultaneously.
How does it work?
The “connection session” commences when a dApp displays a WalletConnect QR code or deep link — a specifically formatted URL that opens a specific connection action within the corresponding wallet. Next, the user scans the QR code or accesses the deep link via their wallet, such as MetaMask or Phantom. This action establishes a secure WebSocket — an encrypted computer communications pathway — between the dApp and the user’s wallet. Finally, the dApp requests a transaction from the wallet, which the user signs to send back to the dApp to be finalized and published on-chain.
WalletConnect and SSP
WalletConnect integration in SSP enables a much more secure way to interact with decentralized applications than ever before, thanks to the multisignature nature of the SSP Wallet. Unlike traditional wallets that rely on a single signature, every interaction with a dApp through SSP requires two independent approvals: one from the browser extension (SSP Wallet) and one from the mobile app (SSP Key).
This Schnorr multi-signature setup ensures that transactions cannot be executed without explicit confirmation from both devices. It eliminates the risks associated with single-device approvals, providing users with complete control over every transaction. You don’t just sign — you validate and confirm on-chain, with complete visibility into what’s being approved.
Additionally, SSP maintains separate accounts for each blockchain network — for example, your Ethereum address is distinct from your Polygon address. This deliberate chain isolation adds an extra layer of security to dApp interactions. SSP Wallet with WalletConnect offers the usability of a hot wallet combined with the security of a cold wallet. It’s a more innovative and safer way to engage with Web3 applications.
Final Thoughts
The integration of WalletConnect into SSP Wallet elevates the standard for secure dApp interactions. With mandatory dual-device approval, Schnorr multi-sig authentication, and per-chain account isolation, SSP ensures a significantly higher level of protection for users. This isn’t just an added feature — it’s a shift in how security and usability can coexist in a non-custodial wallet. SSP continues to live up to its name: simple, secure, and powerful — and now, even more capable with WalletConnect. Download SSP today at https://sspwallet.io/.
