Memory and CPU
BeamMP-Server 3.9.3 idled at 13 to 25 MB of memory and about 1% of a CPU core in our tests, with two Lua plugins loaded at the top of that range. The program itself is a 12 MB download. There is no game world on the server: no map files, no physics.
What grows is traffic. The server passes every car's updates on to every other player, so the work rises with players times cars, not players alone. Lua plugins add their own share, and so do players downloading mods. We have not measured a full server under load, so the plans below are sized with headroom rather than to a tested limit.
| Plan | Typical use | RAM | CPU | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Players | Friends cruising, crashing and racing | 1 GB | 0.5 vCore | 10 GB |
| 20 Players | A community server with mods | 1.5 GB | 1 vCore | 20 GB |
| 40 Players | A busy public server with big mod packs and plugins | 2 GB | 1.5 vCores | 40 GB |
Disk
The disk is for mods. A server with no mods needs almost nothing; half the public BeamMP servers we looked at on 2026-10-18 carried more than 1.4 GB of mods. That is why the bigger plans have more storage.
Network
- One port, 30814 by default, for TCP (players connecting, mod downloads) and UDP (car updates).
- Every mod that is on is downloaded by every player as they join, from the server: a big mod pack is upload bandwidth spent on each new player.
- IPv4: BeamMP does not support IPv6 yet.
Frequently asked questions
How much RAM does a BeamMP server need?
Very little: 13 to 25 MB idle in our tests. Plugins and many players with many cars add to it; the plans give 1 to 2 GB for headroom.
Which port does BeamMP use?
30814 by default, on both TCP and UDP.
