Core Keeper Server Worlds, Modes and Seeds

A dedicated server has no Create World screen, but every choice on it is there: 30 world slots, the mode, the seed, the season, and the content bundles.

30 world slots

The server keeps worlds in slots 0 to 29 (-world) and plays one at a time; the others are left exactly as they were. On Flux, the Worlds tab lists them, switches between them, downloads and deletes them.

Modes

ModeWhat it is
NormalBalanced monsters for a fair challenge.
HardTougher monsters, greater rewards.
CasualGentler monsters for a relaxed game.
CreativeAn empty world without limits, to build freely.

The mode is chosen when a world is created (-worldmode). A world cannot be switched between Creative and the other modes afterwards.

Seeds

The seed (-worldseed) decides the map and the dungeons. The same seed as a world in your own game gives the same map; none gives a random one. Like the mode, it only matters when the world is made.

Seasonal events

By default the server follows the calendar: Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Valentine, the Anniversary, Cherry Blossom and Lunar New Year come at their time of year. A server can force one, or none (-season).

Content bundles

A world made before an update can miss what came with it: extra dungeons, the Abiotic Factor crossover, biome statues, guaranteed oases. -activateallcontent adds them, permanently. A world made on version 1.3 has all thirteen already.

Custom world generation

The server has no screen for world generation parameters. Pugstorm's way: create the world in your own game with the parameters you want, copy its file from the save's worldgenparams folder into the server's, named after the slot, and start a new world in that slot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change a Core Keeper server's world mode?

Not for an existing world: the mode is chosen when the world is made. Make a new world in a free slot with the mode you want.

How do I play a specific seed on a Core Keeper server?

Set the seed when creating a new world (on Flux, in the Worlds tab's New World form). The same seed gives the same map as in your own game.
