How to Join a Friend's Enshrouded Server

Got the address of an Enshrouded dedicated server and want to jump in? Here is exactly how to join a friend's Enshrouded server from the in-game server list, how to add it by its address through Steam favourites, and how to fix it when the server does not show up.

What you need before joining

To join an Enshrouded server you need three things from whoever runs it: the server name and address (a domain or IP, with its port), the password if it is set, and confirmation that the server is actually online. With those in hand, connecting takes under a minute.

Add the server to your Steam favourites

Enshrouded has no box in the game for typing an address. The way Keen Games documents is Steam's own server favourites, and a favourite then shows up at the top of the server list inside the game:

  1. In the Steam client, open View, then Game Servers.
  2. Go to the Favorites tab and click the + button at the bottom.
  3. Enter the server address with its port, separated by a colon: for example 203.0.113.10:15637, or the domain and port your host gave you.
  4. Launch Enshrouded, choose Play, then Join. The server is listed at the top. Select it, type the password if it has one, and join.

The favourite stays saved, so on later sessions you just pick the server from the list. You can also find a public server by searching its name in the in-game list. If your friend is on a managed host like Flux, the address is a domain rather than a raw IP, which is easier to share and does not change when the server moves.

Joining a server hosted on Flux

If the server runs on the Flux decentralized cloud, the owner can copy the exact address, domain and port, from their dashboard and send it to you. Add it to your Steam favourites as above, enter the password if there is one, and join. Because Flux servers stay online 24/7, you can drop in and out whenever you like without waiting for the host to be on.

Fixing: Enshrouded server not showing up

If the server does not appear or you cannot connect, work through these in order — the cause is almost always one of them:

  • Double-check the address and port. Enshrouded uses a single port, 15637 by default, but a host can give each server its own; a wrong port is the most common mistake.
  • Confirm the server is online. Ask the owner to verify it in their host dashboard or control panel.
  • Make sure the host has forwarded the server's UDP port. A self-hosted server with a closed port is invisible even when running.
  • Verify you and the server are on the same game version. Enshrouded blocks connections across mismatched versions after an update.
  • Re-add the favourite instead of relying on a stale saved entry, and restart the game to refresh the server list.
  • Temporarily check whether your own firewall or VPN is blocking the outbound connection.
Tip:A closed or un-forwarded port is the number-one reason a self-hosted Enshrouded server does not show up. Managed Flux servers open and route theirs automatically, so this class of problem simply does not occur.

Common connection errors

A "connection timed out" usually means the address or port is wrong, or the port is closed. "Wrong password" is self-explanatory — passwords are case-sensitive. "Version mismatch" means either you or the server needs to update to the latest Enshrouded patch before you can connect.

Want your own always-on server?

If you are tired of waiting for a host to come online, running your own dedicated server means the world is always available for the whole group. See our setup guide for the full walkthrough, or deploy one on Flux in about 30 seconds.

Frequently asked questions

How do I join a friend's Enshrouded server?

Add the server to your Steam favourites: in Steam open View, Game Servers, Favorites, click +, and enter the address and port your friend gave you. Then in Enshrouded choose Play and Join, where the server is listed at the top, type the password if required, and join. A public server can also be found by searching its name in the in-game list.

Why is my friend's Enshrouded server not showing up?

Usually the address or port is wrong, the server is offline, the server's UDP port is not forwarded, or your game versions do not match. Re-check the address, confirm the server is online, and make sure both sides are on the latest patch.

What port do I use to connect to an Enshrouded server?

Enshrouded uses one UDP port, the query port, which is 15637 by default. Hosts that run several servers on one address give each its own port, so use the one your host shows you, after the address and a colon: for example 203.0.113.10:15637.

Do I need a password to join an Enshrouded server?

Only if the owner set one. If the server is password-protected you must enter the exact, case-sensitive password when adding it; otherwise you can join without one.
