How to Join a Garry's Mod Server

Garry's Mod has three ways in. The server browser finds a server by name; the console and Steam favorites take its address, which always works, even when the browser does not show it.

The server browser

  1. Open Find Multiplayer Game from the main menu.
  2. Pick the gamemode the server runs: the browser groups servers by gamemode.
  3. Search for the exact server name.

The console

  1. Enable the developer console under Options, Keyboard, Advanced.
  2. Press the ~ key to open it.
  3. Type connect followed by the address and port, for example connect garrysmod1234.app.runonflux.io:31842.

Steam favorites

In Steam, open View, Game Servers, Favorites, Add a server, and paste the same address and port. The server then shows in Garry's Mod's Favorites tab, with its player count.

On Flux

The dashboard shows the server's address and port, ready to copy, and its join password if it has one. A new server gets a port of its own so several servers can share a node, which is why the address carries a port.

connect followed by the address and port, for example connect 203.0.113.10:27015. Add password <password> first if the server has one.

Why can I not find my server in the browser?

Check the gamemode filter first (the browser groups by gamemode), then that the name is exact. A server without a Steam game server token is ranked lower. Connecting by address always works.
