Option 1: SteamCMD on Windows or Linux
The dedicated server is a free download (Steam application 1690800), and it runs natively on 64-bit Windows and on Linux, with no Wine layer. Install it with SteamCMD and start it.
- Install SteamCMD, then run: app_update 1690800 validate
- Start the server (FactoryServer.sh on Linux, FactoryServer.exe on Windows).
- Open port 7777 over TCP and UDP, and port 8888 over TCP, in your firewall and forward them on your router.
- Keep the outside port numbers the same as the inside ones: the game does not support redirecting its standard port.
Option 2: Docker
The widely used image is wolveix/satisfactory-server. It updates the game from Steam every time the container starts, copies your saves to a backups folder on each start (the new copy replaces the last one), and keeps everything under one /config volume: the game files, saves, backups and logs.
- Ports 7777 (TCP and UDP) and 8888 (TCP).
- MAXPLAYERS sets the player limit (4 by default).
- AUTOSAVENUM sets how many rotating autosaves are kept (5 by default).
- SKIPUPDATE turns off the update on start, if you need to hold a version.
Option 3: managed on Flux
Deploy a Satisfactory server on the Flux decentralized cloud, on that same image, with the ports opened and routed for you, DDoS protection included, and a dashboard with admin actions, one-click ficsit.app mods, a file manager, a live terminal and backups. Plans start at $4.99 a month.
- Pick the 8, 12 or 16 GB plan for your team.
- Choose a region close to your players.
- Deploy. The first start downloads the server from Steam.
- The panel's Overview tab claims the server for you in one click, keeps the admin password on your server and shows it there.
Claiming the server
A new dedicated server has no owner. The first person to connect to it through the in-game Server Manager claims it by giving it a name and an admin password, and from then on the admin password is what unlocks its settings. Claim a self-hosted server as soon as it is up, before anyone else finds it. On Flux it is one click on the Overview tab.
Joining it
There is no public server browser. In the game, open the Server Manager, choose Add Server, and enter the server's address and port. From there, create a new session or upload a save you already have.

Can a Satisfactory server run on Linux?
Yes, natively. The dedicated server is built for 64-bit Windows and Linux.
Why do I need to claim my Satisfactory server?
A new server has no admin until someone claims it with a name and an admin password in the Server Manager. On Flux the panel's Overview tab does it in one click as soon as the server is up.
