Cannot Join a tModLoader Server

Most failures to join a modded server are one of a handful of things. Check them in this order.

  1. Is the server up? The dashboard says when it is still installing mods or generating the world.
  2. Are players on tModLoader, not Terraria? Only tModLoader joins a modded server.
  3. Same tModLoader release? Stable players join a stable server.
  4. Did a mod fail to load? The Mods tab flags a missing dependency; the Console tab shows the log.
  5. The address and the port: both from the dashboard.
  6. Password and bans: the Server Settings tab.
