Getting a key
- Open keymaster.beammp.com and sign in with Discord (a Discord account is required).
- Click Keys on the left of the page.
- Press the green + button at the top right.
- Type a name. It is only the key's label, not your server's name in the list.
- Press Create, then copy the value in the Key field with the clipboard icon.
Treat the key like a password: anyone with it can run a server as you. On Flux it goes in Deployment Settings, BeamMP AuthKey, and the spec carrying it is registered encrypted.
Key limits
- Each account has a limited number of keys; BeamMP gives more to people who support the project.
- One key runs one server at a time. Two servers need two keys.
Without a key
BeamMP logs "No AuthKey specified" and closes after 10 seconds. On Flux the server waits instead of restarting in a loop, and the Overview tab shows these same steps.
"Backend REFUSED the auth key"
The server started, but the BeamMP backend turned the key down and says why, for example "Your key is invalid". A public server then never finishes starting and turns joining players away. Check the key in the Keymaster, copy it again with the clipboard icon, and make sure no other server is using it. On Flux the Overview tab shows the backend's reason.
Public or private
A public server is listed through the key. A private server is not in the list (players use Direct Connect) and does not report the backend's answer, but BeamMP still requires a key to start, and recommends a valid one.
