How to Set Up a Hytale Dedicated Server

Option 1: by hand

Hytale's server is a Java program, HytaleServer.jar, with the game's assets beside it in Assets.zip. It needs Java 25 and at least 4 GB of memory, and listens on UDP port 5520 using QUIC.

1. Install Java 25.
2. Download the server with Hypixel's hytale-downloader. It asks you to sign in with your Hytale account the first time.
3. Start it: java -Xmx3G -jar Server/HytaleServer.jar --assets Assets.zip --bind 0.0.0.0:5520
4. In the server console, run /auth login device and approve the code with your Hytale account.
5. Open UDP 5520 in your firewall and forward it on your router.

Option 2: Docker on Linux

Community images such as indifferentbroccoli/hytale-server-docker wrap all of that: they run the downloader, start the server, send /auth login device for you and keep the credentials encrypted on the volume, so a restart does not ask again. The two sign-in codes appear in the container's log.

• Mount /home/hytale/server-files on a volume: it holds the server, your universe and the credentials (about 3.6 GB).
• Set MAX_MEMORY to about three quarters of the container's memory, or Java takes a quarter by default.
• DEFAULT_PORT sets the port the server binds; publish the same number outside.

Option 3: managed on Flux

Deploy a Hytale server on the Flux decentralized cloud, on that same image, with the port opened and routed for you, DDoS protection included, and a dashboard with the account link, a settings form, a server console, a file browser and backups. Plans start at $2.99 a month.

1. Pick the 4, 6, 8 or 12 GB plan for your group.
2. Choose a region close to your players and deploy.
3. Open the Hytale Account tab and approve the two codes with the account that owns the game.
4. Share the address and port the dashboard shows with your friends.
