How to Host a Calamity Mod Server

Calamity is the best-known Terraria content mod: new bosses, biomes and items, and harder difficulty modes on top of the game's own. Hosting it for a group is a tModLoader server with the right Workshop items and enough memory.

What to install

Workshop itemIDSize
Calamity Mod2824688072about 400 MB
Calamity Mod Music (required by it)2824688266about 700 MB

On a Flux server, add Calamity in the Mods tab (or put 2824688072 in Workshop Mods when you deploy): the music mod comes with it, as its dependency. Add-ons and libraries are added the same way.

Tip:The Calamity team stopped developing the mod in August 2026. The last release is still on the Workshop and loads on the current stable tModLoader, which is what our servers run.

The world

  • Make the world on the server or upload one: a large world suits a group.
  • Expert or Master difficulty, set when the world is made (the Worlds tab), is what Calamity's own harder modes build on; those are switched on in game.
  • Calamity's server-side settings are in the Mod Configs tab once the file exists.

Memory

In our test Calamity, its music and Magic Storage idled at about 1.6 GB on a new large Master world. Play takes it well beyond that, which is why our Calamity plan has 5 GB; Calamity together with Thorium or other big mods is our Big Modpacks plan.

Frequently asked questions

Plan for about 4 to 5 GB in play: it idled at about 1.6 GB in our test on a new large world.

Do my friends need to download Calamity?

No: tModLoader downloads it from the server when they join (about 1.1 GB with the music mod, once).
