Rent a V Rising Dedicated Server

A V Rising world is built to be left running. Castles decay, servants work and the clock keeps turning while you are away, which is exactly why a clan needs a server that stays up when nobody is at their desk. Renting one is how most groups get that. Here is what it involves, what it costs, and when running your own is the better call.

Self-hosting V Rising is realistic if you already have a spare Windows machine with the memory to give it and you do not mind being the one who restarts it. Most clans rent for a simpler reason: the world should not depend on one person's PC being on.

What a rented V Rising server should include

  • A world that runs when you are offline. In V Rising that matters more than in most games, because the world keeps moving between sessions.
  • Both UDP ports open, and the server listed where the game looks. Those two are the usual reasons a new server cannot be found.
  • Updates handled. Stunlock recommends a daily restart, and a host that checks the files on every start turns each restart into an update.
  • Access to the settings files. ServerGameSettings.json holds the rules of the world: PvE or PvP, difficulty, rates and castle limits.
  • A way to reach the server as an admin: an RCON console for announcements and timed restarts, and the admin list for in-game commands.

The plans on Flux

PlanCPURAMStorageRecommended forPrice
V Rising 8GB2 vCores8 GB10 GB SSD~10 players$6.99/mo
V Rising 10GB3 vCores10 GB15 GB SSD~20 players$8.49/mo
V Rising 12GB4 vCores12 GB20 GB SSD~30 players$9.99/mo

We do not sell player slots. The figure on each plan is what its memory carries comfortably; how many players can actually join is the server's own MaxConnectedUsers setting, 40 by default, which is yours to change. Stunlock documents 128 as the most the server technically supports.

What you manage from the dashboard

  • Server Settings: the world's rules from ServerGameSettings.json, edited in a form.
  • Deployment Settings: the server name, the join password, the RCON password, and the switches for the EOS and Steam lists.
  • Console: a timed restart with a countdown, announcements to everyone online, and raw console commands over RCON.
  • Mods: server mods from Thunderstore, with BepInEx installed for you alongside the first one.
  • Files and terminal: a web file browser with an editor, for the settings, the admin list and your saves.
  • Backups, and the live player count, game mode and clan size read from the server's Steam listing.

Deploying one

  1. Pick the plan for the size of the group that will be online together.
  2. Choose a region close to your players from 50+ countries.
  3. Name the server, set a join password if you want one, and deploy. An RCON password is generated for you.
  4. The server is provisioned in about 30 seconds. Its first start then downloads the server from Steam, and V Rising can take up to ten minutes to finish launching.
  5. Find it by name in the in-game server list, or connect directly to the address shown in the dashboard.

Bringing a world you already have

Stunlock documents how to move a save from the game client to a dedicated server. The session folder holds the AutoSave files; it goes into the server's Saves/v4 folder, named after the server's SaveName setting in ServerHostSettings.json so that it is the save the server loads. On Flux you do that with the file browser: stop the server, upload the folder into the persistent data, and start it again.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a V Rising server?

On Flux, $6.99/month for 2 vCores and 8 GB, $8.49/month for 3 vCores and 10 GB, and $9.99/month for 4 vCores and 12 GB. Billing is monthly with no contract.

How many players can a rented V Rising server hold?

As many as its MaxConnectedUsers setting allows, 40 by default and up to 128 technically. The plans recommend about 10, 20 and 30 players as what their memory carries comfortably, but the plan does not cap it.

Is it better to rent or self-host a V Rising server?

Self-hosting works if you have a spare Windows machine with the memory for it and do not mind maintaining it. Renting is worth it when the world should stay up whether or not anyone's PC is on, with the ports, listing and updates handled for you.

Do I need to own V Rising to run a server?

Not on the server. The dedicated server is a free, anonymous download from Steam. You need the game to play on it.

Can I run mods on a rented V Rising server?

Yes. Server mods install from Thunderstore in the dashboard's Mods tab, which installs BepInEx with the first one. The first start with mods takes longer while BepInEx prepares itself.

Can I rent a V Rising server for PS5?

Not here. Servers on Flux run the PC dedicated server, for players on Steam. PC and PS5 servers are separate, with no crossplay.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Billing is pay-as-you-go with no contract, and you can cancel or change plan from the dashboard.
