No single point of failure across thousands of independent nodes

Why host your Rust server on Flux?

Rust is the hardcore multiplayer survival game by Facepunch Studios — you spawn with a rock, gather wood, stone and metal, craft weapons, build and fortify a base, then defend it from other players who want to raid you. Running your own dedicated server puts you in charge of the slot count, the wipe cycle, Oxide/uMod plugins and the rules. (This is Rust the game, not the Rust programming language.)

Most Rust hosts run on a few centralized data centres. Flux spreads your server across a decentralized network of thousands of independent nodes in 50+ countries, so there is no single point of failure and you can place your server close to your players for low latency. Deployment is fully automated: the required ports (28015 game, 28016 RCON, 28017 Steam query) are opened for you, DDoS protection is always on, and the mandatory monthly Facepunch force-wipe update is handled automatically. You manage everything — console, files, backups and monitoring — from one dashboard, with pay-as-you-go pricing and no contracts.

Vanilla vs modded (Oxide/uMod)

A Vanilla Rust server plays exactly as Facepunch ships it — default gather rates and pure, competitive survival, the way the developers intended. A modded server uses the Oxide/uMod framework to load server-side plugins: kits, teleports, economies, custom events, raidable bases and thousands more. Players join both with the standard Rust client — no client-side downloads are ever required, because Oxide runs entirely on the server. You can start Vanilla and add Oxide later, ideally on a wipe so everyone begins fresh. Read our full Vanilla vs modded guide to decide.

We don't sell player slots. The player count on each plan is a guide to what its CPU and RAM handle comfortably, not a limit we enforce. Rust has no fixed cap: set server.maxplayers to whatever your community needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our hosting service

No. We don't sell player slots and we never cap your server. Rust has no fixed player limit — you set server.maxplayers to whatever your community needs. The player count shown on each plan is a guide to what its CPU and RAM handle comfortably, so a bigger community just wants a bigger plan.
Flux is a decentralized cloud infrastructure running on thousands of independent nodes across 50+ countries worldwide, providing redundancy and eliminating single points of failure.
Your Rust dedicated server can be deployed and running in under 30 seconds with our automated deployment system — no SteamCMD or manual setup required.
Rust supports up to 200 players per server, and the slot count is configurable. Choose a plan that matches your community: 8GB for ~50 slots, 12GB for ~100 slots, or 24GB for ~200 slots.
Rust is CPU single-thread and RAM heavy because the whole procedural map is simulated in memory. Budget roughly 8GB RAM for a ~50-slot server, 12GB for 100 players, and 24GB for 200 players or a large map. On Flux the hardware, ports and updates are managed for you.
Vanilla runs the game exactly as Facepunch ships it. A modded server uses the Oxide/uMod framework to load server-side plugins — kits, teleports, economies, events and more. Players join both with the standard Rust client; no client mods needed.
