Counter-Strike 2 Game Server Login Token (GSLT)

A Game Server Login Token (GSLT) is what lets your server log into Steam as a game server. It is free and takes about two minutes, but it is made on your own Steam account.

What happens with no token, or a wrong one

  • No token: the server still runs. It logs into Steam anonymously, friends can join with connect and its address, but it is left out of the community server browser.
  • A token Steam does not accept (revoked, made for another game, or used by another running server): the server is disconnected from Steam and players cannot join. We measured this: its Steam ID shows as disconnected within about 25 seconds of starting.
  • A valid token: the server is listed under its name. (We did not test a valid token ourselves: it needs a Steam account.)

How to make one

  1. Open steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers and sign in with the Steam account that will own the server. Steam may require a verified phone number and an account that is not limited.
  2. Under "Create a new game server account" enter App ID 730 and a memo (any name that helps you remember the server), then press Create.
  3. Copy the Login Token that appears in the list.
  4. On Flux, paste it into Steam Game Server Token under Deployment Settings and redeploy. The Overview tab then says whether Steam accepted it.
Tip:One token per running server. If you run two servers on the same token, Steam rejects them. If a token is ever leaked, reset it on the same page and paste the new one in.

Frequently asked questions

Is the token free?

Yes. Valve gives game server tokens to any Steam account that meets its requirements, at no cost.

Does the token belong in the game files?

No. On Flux it is an environment value of your server, and the spec is registered encrypted, so it is not stored in plain text.
