Rent a SCUM Server

Hosting SCUM yourself means a machine with a lot of RAM that stays on. Renting means somebody else keeps it on.

Self-hosting

It is free, and you control everything. But the server holds about 10.6 GB of RAM with nobody on it, needs 15.5 GB of disk and two open ports, and has to stay on for your community to play. Updates, backups and a save database that must be copied carefully are yours to manage.

What a rented server should include

  • Enough RAM that the idle server does not already fill it.
  • Every setting reachable, not a short list of favourites.
  • Admins and bans without editing files by hand.
  • Backups that are consistent, restorable and downloadable.
  • Automatic game updates, so players are not locked out.
  • DDoS protection.

On Flux

Plans start at $10.99/month for 16 players, with the full feature set on every plan, no contract and a server located in the region you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Should I rent or self-host a SCUM server?

If you do not have a machine with spare RAM that can stay on, renting is simpler. If you do, self-hosting costs only the electricity and your time.
