Why Host Your SCUM Server on Flux?

A SCUM island is a long project: the base you built, the vehicles you collected, the squad you survived with. Played peer to peer, it lives on the host's PC and stops when the host does. A dedicated server keeps it running whoever is online, and a rented one keeps it running without a machine of yours that has to stay on.

SCUM is also a heavy server: with the island loaded and nobody on it, ours holds about 10.6 GB of RAM, which is why the plans start at 14 GB. Every plan has dedicated vCores and memory reserved for your server on a decentralized cloud of thousands of independent nodes across 50+ countries, so you can place it near your players, and your save is copied to a standby node.

The fiddly parts are handled. All 437 settings of ServerSettings.ini are fields in a searchable form, each with the game's own default. Admins, bans, a whitelist and a private-server list are managed by SteamID. Raid times, the trader economy and scheduled messages are edited with a JSON check, and the game's updates are installed for you.

One thing to know, because we measured it: the SCUM server cannot be told to save, and a stop ends it at once. Its save is a database it writes to all the time, so a stop or a restart loses at most the last moments, and the image copies the database consistently every five minutes and backs it up on start and every six hours.

You still get an ordinary management panel: a file browser, a live terminal and backups. Plans start at $10.99/month, billing is pay-as-you-go, and there is no contract.

We don't sell player slots. The player count of a plan is the number its CPU and RAM are sized for, not a cap. Max Players starts there and you can set a higher number in Deployment Settings or the Server Settings tab. A bigger plan has more CPU and RAM for a crowded server.

SCUM Server Features Explained

Every setting, without the files

A SCUM server takes all its rules from one file, ServerSettings.ini, with 437 keys. Here every one of them is a field: a switch for a yes or no, a number, a time, or text, with the game's own default beside any value you change and a button to go back to it. They are grouped (server, wipes, time of day, respawn, vehicles, damage, encounters, enemies, animals, bunkers, cargo drops) and searchable, and the form refuses a value of the wrong type before it touches the file.

Admins, bans and who can join

Add players by SteamID64 or by pasting their Steam profile link. The Player Lists tab keeps admins, bans, a whitelist for when the server is full, a private-server list, silenced players and the players who may change settings in the game, and shows the name the save knows beside each number and who is online.

Raid times and the economy

The game reads RaidTimes.json, EconomyOverride.json and Notifications.json for raid windows, trader prices and funds, and scheduled messages. The Rules tab edits them as text with a JSON check, and the server restarts onto them when you save.

Saves, backups and updates

The save is one database the game keeps open, so it is copied with SQLite's own backup, never as a plain file. The copy on the synced volume is refreshed every five minutes and when the server stops; backups are made on start, every six hours and before a restore, and you can restore or download any, or bring the SCUM.db of another server. The server cannot be told to save, so a stop loses at most the last moments. It installs the newest game build on every start and restarts onto a new one once nobody is playing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our hosting service

$10.99/month for 16 players (4 vCores, 14 GB of RAM, 35 GB of storage), $12.99/month for 32 players (5 vCores, 18 GB, 40 GB) and $15.99/month for 64 players (6 vCores, 24 GB, 50 GB). SCUM is a big game for a server: an idle one with nobody on already uses about 10.6 GB of RAM, which is why the plans start where they do. Billing is monthly and you can cancel at any time.
A plan's player count is the number its CPU and RAM are sized for, not a cap: Max Players starts there and you can set a higher number, in Deployment Settings or the Server Settings tab (the image accepts up to 128). A bigger plan has more CPU and RAM for a crowded server.
Open the game's server list and search for the server by its name, then type the password if you set one. The dashboard also shows the address and the game port for a direct connect.
The SCUM server cannot be told to save, and we say so plainly. Its save is a database it writes to all the time, and our image copies it consistently every five minutes and when the server stops, so a stop or a restart loses at most the last moments, not a whole autosave period. The Save Backups tab restores older copies.
Yes. The Server Settings tab has every one of the 437 settings in the game's ServerSettings.ini, grouped (server, wipes, time of day, respawn, vehicles, damage, encounters, enemies, animals, bunkers, cargo drops and more) and searchable, each with the game's own default and a button to go back to it. Saving restarts the server, which takes about two minutes.
Add your SteamID64, or paste your Steam profile link, in the Player Lists tab, or set it as an admin when you deploy, and restart. The same tab keeps the ban list, a whitelist, a private-server list and the players who may change settings in the game. The dedicated server has no remote console, so kicks are done in the game by an admin.
