Icarus Server Admins: /AdminLogin, Kicks and Bans

An Icarus server has no remote console. Admin commands are typed in the game's own chat after logging in as an admin with the server's admin password.

The admin password

Set AdminPassword in ServerSettings.ini (on Flux, it is a required field of the deployment). In game, open the chat and type /AdminLogin <password>. You are an admin until you leave. Make the password a long one, and keep it set: with no password at all, /AdminLogin gives anyone admin.

Admin commands

CommandWhat it does
/AdminLogin <password>Become an admin for this session
/KickPlayer <SteamID or name> [reason]Kick a player; they can rejoin
/BanPlayer <SteamID or name> [reason]Kick and ban a player; the ban is saved with the server
/UnbanPlayer <SteamID or name>Take a player off the ban list
/ReturnToLobbyKick everyone and return the server to its lobby
/ReturnToLobbyWhenEmptyReturn to the lobby as soon as the server is empty
/AdminSay <message>Show a message to all players

Admins by SteamID64 and the ban list

The Players & Admins tab keeps two lists, the files the server reads as it starts (AdminWhitelist.txt and PlayerBanList.txt, one SteamID64 per line). Add a SteamID64 to the admin list to make that player an admin without a password, and to the ban list to keep them out; saving restarts the server. A ban an admin makes in game with /BanPlayer is saved by the game into the same list.

Finding a SteamID64

  • In Steam, click your name at the top right, then Account Details: the ID is shown under your account name.
  • Or open the Steam profile: a profile link of the form steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656119… ends in it.
  • On Flux, paste the profile link into the Players & Admins tab and it takes the number from it. If your profile has a custom URL (steamcommunity.com/id/name), steamid.io turns it into the number.
Tip:Admins added on Flux take effect on the next start. The panel restarts the server, which does not save first: the game cannot be told to save, so up to one autosave period of play can be lost.

Frequently asked questions

How do I kick or ban someone on my Icarus server?

Log in as an admin in game (/AdminLogin with the admin password, or your SteamID64 in the Players & Admins tab) and type /KickPlayer or /BanPlayer with their name or SteamID. To ban someone who is not online, add their SteamID64 under Banned players in the Players & Admins tab.

Is there RCON for Icarus?

No. The dedicated server has no remote console: commands are typed in the game's chat by a logged-in admin.
