How to Join an Icarus Dedicated Server

A dedicated server is joined from the game's own Join Session menu: switch the browser to dedicated servers, find the server by its name and type the password if it has one.

From the server browser

  1. Start Icarus and select your character.
  2. Select Join Session in the HAB menu.
  3. Use the toggle in the top right corner of the screen to switch the browser to dedicated servers.
  4. Select the server (search for the name you gave it) and type the password if it has one.
Tip:Steam's own server browser (View, Game Servers, Favorites, Add a server) takes the address with the QUERY port (27015 by default), not the game port.

The lobby

If the server is not running a prospect you land in its lobby instead of the world. The lobby lets you pick a prospect that is already on the server, start a new one (a mission, an outpost or the open world), or run admin commands. By default anyone can start a prospect; the Server Settings tab can limit that to admins.

Before you join

  • The server and your game must be on the same build. A server on Flux installs the newest build on every start and restarts onto a new one by itself.
  • The server takes at most its Max Players (8 at the most).
  • A server still loading is not in the list yet: about half a minute after a restart for the lobby, and another half minute before the prospect is in. The very first start also downloads the game and takes longer.

Frequently asked questions

Which port do I use to join an Icarus server?

You pick the server by name in the dedicated servers list. For Steam favourites, use the address with the query port (27015 by default).

What is the lobby?

The screen a dedicated server shows while it has no prospect loaded. From it a player picks or starts a prospect, or an admin runs commands such as /AdminLogin.
