Icarus Server Not Showing Up

Work through these in order. Most of the time the server is simply still starting, or the browser is not set to dedicated servers.

1. Is the server running?

A start takes about a minute and a half once the game is installed, and the server is not in the list until its query port answers. The very first start downloads about 10.5 GB first. The Overview tab says what it is doing; wait for running.

2. Is the browser on dedicated servers?

In Join Session, use the toggle in the top right to switch the browser to dedicated servers. The default list shows other players' sessions.

3. Search by the exact name

Search for the Server Name you set. Names are limited to 64 characters. If you renamed the server, the list may take a moment to catch up.

4. Same build

The server and your game must be on the same build. A server on Flux installs the newest build on every start and restarts onto a new one by itself once it is empty, but right after a game patch it can be a few minutes behind.

5. Ports

If you host it yourself, UDP 17777 and 27015 must be open and forwarded, and the server must bind exactly the numbers you publish. On Flux both are opened and routed for you.

6. Passwords and the player limit

A server at its Max Players takes nobody else, and a password must be typed exactly. Both are in the Server Settings tab.

7. In the lobby instead of the world?

If you join and land in the lobby, the server has no prospect loaded. That happens on a new server, or when the prospect it was to load could not be read (the Prospects tab marks such a file). Pick or start a prospect from the lobby, or press Play on one in the Prospects tab.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Icarus server not in the server list?

Why do I land in a lobby?

The server has no prospect loaded. Start or pick one there, or press Play on one in the Prospects tab.
