Where the settings live
Name, passwords, rules, voting, chat and the ban list are in LinuxServer-KFGame.ini; the tick rate and the workshop list are in LinuxServer-KFEngine.ini; the web admin is in KFWeb.ini. Mode, difficulty, match length, max players and the first map are not in a file: they are the options of the server's start command.

| Server tick rate | 30 | 20 to 120 | How often the server updates the game. The game ships with 30; community servers use 60 for smoother hits at the cost of more CPU. Needs the server to have started once. |
The tick rate
The game ships with 30 updates per second. Community servers raise it to 60 for smoother hit registration; it costs CPU, so give the server a second fast core before you do.
Max players
Killing Floor 2 itself caps a co-op server at 6 players and Versus Survival at 12: the game lowers any higher Max Players to its limit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I run more than 6 players?
Not in Survival, Weekly, Endless or Objective: the game lowers Max Players to 6 there. Versus Survival takes 12. Community mutators can lift the co-op limit; we do not promise that.
What are the difficulties?
Normal, Hard, Suicidal and Hell on Earth (0 to 3 in the start command).
