How to Join a Killing Floor 2 Server

A dedicated server appears in the game's server browser under its name. If you have the address, you can also join it directly.

From the server browser

  1. In Killing Floor 2, open the server browser from the main menu.
  2. Search for the server by its name, or add a filter.
  3. Select it and join; type the password if the server has one.

A new server can take a minute to show up in the list after it starts; the list is refreshed by Steam.

From Steam favourites

In Steam, View, Game Servers, Favourites, Add a server: enter the address with the QUERY port (27015 by default; a managed Flux server shows its own query port on the dashboard). The server then appears in your favourites and in the game's list.

With the console

Open the console (Tab or ~) and type: open <address>:<game port>. Add ?password=<password> to the address if the server has a join password.

Workshop maps

If the server runs workshop maps or mutators, your game downloads them from the Steam Workshop the first time you join; it can take a minute for a large map. Players on the Epic Games Store cannot download Steam Workshop items and cannot join those servers.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not see my server in the list?

Give it a minute after it says running, check that the name is what you expect, and make sure the list is not filtered to hide passworded or modded servers. See the "server not showing up" guide.

Do my friends need the game?

Yes. Everyone who plays needs Killing Floor 2; the dedicated server itself needs no licence.
